Brighton & Sussex Malayali Society ยท 2025
Event Highlight
Onam 2025 was a cultural event hosted by my committee at the Brighton and Sussex Malayali Society in November 2025.
This was a culturally significant event consisting of both customary performances as well as individual talent showcases.
As a solo acting as videographer and photographer, it was manageable to carry out both duties but quite hectic nonetheless, as I was also part of two performances as well as a face of the committee who hosted the event - so not only was I running around with cameras, but also greeting guests and serving food where needed. Due to our usage of large and powerful speakers for the event, the performance videos turned out to have distorted audio as the mic attached to the AC90 clipped heavily even on a low setting, something that I tried to account for while setting up the event Photography went as smooth as it could have, as well as editing in lightroom. Colour grading the AC90 footage was a challenge however as I hadn't anticipated how little flexibility I had in terms of the default Rec.709 colour space that this camera shoots in. I opted for a slightly warm and more vintage look with some washed out contrast, playing into this camera's handheld and older image. I had to colour match the DJI's more digital looking footage accordingly, which I feel that I did quite seamlessly.
